[What is Goma?]
The word "goma" comes from the Sanskrit word "homa." Each person writes a prayer and their name on a goma stick, which is then read aloud and thrown into the fire on the goma altar. On the day of the ceremony, we will have you enter the inner sanctuary of the main hall and perform the blessing.

Grand Prajna Prayer Meeting

Third Sunday in April from 11:00

At our temple, we hold a solemn spring memorial service called the "Great Prayer Meeting."

The Great Prajnaparamita Sutra was translated into Chinese by the Chinese monk Xuanzang, who brought the sutra back from India (Tenjiku) over 1,300 years ago.

The Great Prajnaparamita Sutra itself is a highly valued and sacred sutra, but its enormous length of 600 volumes makes it difficult to recite the entire text in one go. To address this, a dozen or so monks read the title aloud in unison, fanning out the sutra and folding it while reciting the text. The resulting wind is called the "Prajna Wind," and this wind bestows the merit of the sutra. At the end, a monk loudly proclaims, "Subjugating all great demons will be most supremely accomplished." This is followed by prayers for national peace, the elimination of disasters, good health, the elimination of disease, the fulfillment of wishes, and the fulfillment of individual wishes.

  Special unveiling of Ryoumen Sukuna

A temple founded by Ryomen Sukuna

According to temple legend, during the reign of Emperor Nintoku (first half of the 5th century), Ryomen Sukuna was born in Hida Province.

There was a powerful clan named Ryomensukuna.

This foreigner reached the Emperor's palace and met him in person.

While taking a break at Kamonogahara, two pigeons appeared mysteriously from nowhere.

The birds chirped and flew off to the peak of Takazawa. The foreigners were amazed.

When he asked the villagers, he heard that there was a pond in the Takazawa mountain range where a divine dragon lived and caused harm to the villagers in the surrounding area. So he climbed a distant peak, chanted the mantra of great compassion, and summoned the divine dragon.

He drove them away and founded a temple on this peak.
